Tommy was one of the most laidback, positive and happy people that I have ever met. A talented sportsman, intelligent guy and always smiling; Tom knew how to enjoy life! He never had a bad word to say about anyone and equally everyone loved him. He had such a positive impact on so many people and was so sadly taken from us at the age of only 21 in 2007.

Tom’s family set up a Gift of Hope Heart Fund to raise money for the British Heart Foundation in their fight against heart disease. In particular, Tom's fund will support research into congenital heart conditions such as his. I would like to do my bit to help Tom’s fund by raising money as I run the Paris Marathon in April 2018.

Running is something that has never come naturally to me. Indeed, when I knew Tom back at University, I weighed roughly 110kg.
In April 2017, I would have struggled to run 5km, so 42km a year later is a seriously daunting prospect! I am sure that the thought of me dragging myself around a marathon in his memory would bring Tom a great deal of amusement!

Thank you so much for the donations. Unfortunately I appear to have shocked my body a little too much with the training and my right knee has not coped! I have not run for three weeks now and am sadly still in a lot of pain. I am therefore going to have to look for a different challenge to raise money, which avoids any long term damage to my knees!
