At the age of 10 our precious dad contracted rheumatic fever which damaged the valves in his heart. Throughout our childhood he underwent various operations to replace/maintain his mitral valve and he was fitted with a mechanical valve. His whole life was quietly dominated by blood tests, warfrin levels and appointments with cardiologists to try and keep his heart working. In addition to this, in July 2021, he underwent a heart bypass. This created many and varied complications which he then had to live with alongside the existing issues with his heart,

Despite all of this, he remained throughout his whole life the most positive, content and happy person; never allowing the gradual decline of his valve and complications from his bypass to prevent him from loving his life and loving those around him. He lived and loved whole-heartedly every day of his 75years.

On 11th December he suffered a stroke and then on the 23rd December, he developed an internal bleed, passing away peacefully surrounded by his family on 4th January 2024.

His determination to live life to the very fullest never left him for a second, despite living with a heart that could be unpredictable and demanding of his attention, his heart was full; full of love for life, his beloved wife, Sue (who passed away in 2018), his children and his grandchildren. Every day for him was a joy and everyday he gave joy to those lucky enough to know and love him.

It is in his memory, as we celebrate his incredible life and legacy, that we create this tribute page. We love and miss him beyond words. His heart, with all its quirks, lives on through us and that is why we are keen to support the BHF.
