David Milton
David had a wonderful sense of humour. He was incredibly kind, loving, passionate and socially engaging. He loved dogs, football and travelling the world.
David John Milton was born in South Benfleet, Essex, on 4th September 1937. In those days, South Benfleet was a small country village with fields, woods, and creeks and an idyllic environment to grow up in as a young boy. David was in his element, whether footballing, fishing, bird-nesting, sailing, tree-climbing, or generally getting up to mischief-prompting his mother to once remark, "I hardly ever see him; he must be up to mischief somewhere". Since the age of 11, David had been a junior player on the books of West Ham United F.C., but in 1953, the bigger clubs came knocking, and David joined Tottenham Hotspur F.C. as an apprentice Professional. He got married to Olive and had two sons, Paul and Stuart. He also has three grandchildren. As an epitaph on his gravestone, David said, "Try harder - You are here but once".
