This page has been created in loving memory of Francis Castanha, a devoted husband, father and Grandad who sadly passed away on Sunday 1st September 2024.

On 1st September 2024, whilst climbing Sigiriya Lion Rock in Sri Lanka Dad suffered a cardiac arrest. Prior to this holiday he was fit and well, so to learn that he had heart disease has been such a shock to all of us. Dad was an amazing, kind and selfless man. He loved socialising and always had endless trips planned. He was not one for staying in! Only a few months ago at the age of 70 he was at a foam party in Jamaica. He loved travelling, having fun and dancing. His age was definitely just a number. He was an avid gym goer for 32 years and spent most days exercising, even on holiday. The gym staff have said that he filled the gym with warmth and connection and always made time for everyone. Dad was happiest when he was with his family. He loved Mum and their marriage of 42 years is testament to this. But Dad really enjoyed being a Grandad to Freya and George. He would spoil them rotten and I genuinely think he loved soft play more than they did! He leaves a big hole in their lives. We, as a family have set up this page in lieu of funeral flowers.
