Loving husband to Darshan and devoted father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother - loved by all his family and his many friends.

Balbir was born in Punjab, India and later moved to Kenya in 1948 as a young boy where he worked in his family sawmill and Jandu workshop in Nairobi. In 1962 he left Kenya for the UK where he learnt his trade at T D Cross & Sons in Erdington as an engineer before moving to Midland Combustion, Four Ashes, Wolverhampton -where he rose to foreman and workshop manager. Alongside this he acquired a grocery & haberdashery store running Jandu General Stores in Oxley, Wolverhampton with the family. Balbir spent many years driving his cherished green 1979 T2 VW Bay Van, which served as a family car for his wife Darshan and his four children Satbinder Bahra (nee Jandu), Sukhdev, Gurdeep & Baldev alongside other family members with everyone in the back travelling to various family functions & celebrations. 'Dad's van' was also used for many cash-and-carry trips and also to transport electrical elements to-and-from the factory. He made these elements in his spare time in his garage at home along with Darshan. One of the biggest orders for these electrical elements was to supply these for the QE2 ship when it returned home to the UK after its' service in the Falklands war. Balbir retired from Midland Combustion and continued to manufacture & supply electrical elements from home for several years before finally hanging up his pliers to enjoy gardening and spending time with his family. Throughout his life in Wolverhampton he was a regular attendee and later a trustee of Ramgarhia Sabha Gurudwara in Newhampton Road, Wolverhampton. Balbir was a kind and gentle man who was always ready to lend a helping hand and provide sound advice to anyone who needed it. In July 2024, Balbir sadly suffered a heart attack and passed away suddenly. We sincerely appreciate your good wishes and instead of flowers for his funeral, Balbir's family would prefer a donation to the British Heart Foundation in his memory, to continue their great work helping people with heart issues. We appreciate your kind thoughts and any donation you can make - whether large or small - will be gratefully received. Balbir leaves a big hole in all our hearts and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew this wonderful man. With Love & Kindest Regards from all the Jandu & Bahra families
