Madelene was an absolute delight of a woman. Cheerful, optimistic, inquisitive, generous and kind, a right giggler... always laughing. Frankly, she was marvellous as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Madelene was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia over three years ago, although the signs had been there for at least a year. She also had a strain of Parkinsons which exacerbated her symptoms. We learnt along the way there are many medications available to alleviate symptoms and decline, but what we all want is for research to completely eradicate this awful disease. Whilst still a long way off, the BHF is supporting research that will hopefully one day do just that. The world does not need this awful disease and your contribution will help us achieve that. Madelene would be delighted that her story has aided this cause. X
