Marc was one of the most kind and considerate people you could ever wish to meet, he touched so many peoples lives with his wise words and compassionate nature and will be sadly missed by many.

Marc was an adult with complex congenital heart disease. He sadly died in September 2024, aged 48. He was born in 1975 and diagnosed with a heart defect soon after birth, he underwent his first major heart surgery at three years of age at The Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital, Myrtle Street. This was pioneering surgery called a Fontan procedure and Marc was one of the first in the UK to have this surgery. He was subsequently under the care of Alder Hey until adulthood, when he had another major operation which included modification to the Fontan, just before his 21st birthday.Throughout his life, he had many interventions carried out variously by cardiac teams at Liverpool Heart and Chest Broadgreen Hospital, The Freeman Hospital Newcastle, and Manchester Royal Infirmary. Over the years, Marc received exemplary care, in particular we would like to thank; Dr Wilkinson and Mr Hamilton at Myrtle Street, Dr Ian Peart and Mr Franks at Alder Hey, Dr Petra Jenkins at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and his most recent doctor, Dr Ashrafi (Reza) at Liverpool Heart and Chest. Marc was stoic and never allowed his condition to define him, and he lead a full and relatively active life. After all the interventions Marc had had, his heart had become frail and unfortunately during his last intervention, he experienced complications, his team worked effortlessly but his heart couldn't take anymore, he died peacefully whilst under general anaesthetic.Without continued research, and the advancement of medicine and surgery, Marc and many others would have little or in some cases no quality of life. His family and friends are extremely grateful for the time they had with Marc and have set up this page to allow for donations in his memory, to help continue the lifesaving work and research undertaken by the British Heart Foundation.
