I knew him as Dad but he was also known as Granddad, uncle Mike, our kid, Mike and Mick. He was unwaivering in his love for Jesus, his family, friends, neighbours and church. Dad was always ready to help, especially in practical things.

My Dad's early life was dominated by World War Two and it's after effects. When he met my mom he had not long finished national service and they married and settled down and had two children. We were never rich but we always had the essentials, Dad saw to that. He was not overly affectionate but I never doubted he loved me.
We were thrown together more as friends after my mom died and we learned to rely on each other in life. We became best friends and I learned so much from him about how to relate to people, to encourage them and how to deal with the daily problems of life.
In later life he suffered with arthritis and advanced prostate cancer but his joy and enthusiasm never dimmed.
He was taken by a massive heart attack in the early hours of the 3rd of September, 2024. I thank God that I was with him at the end and that I have the true hope of seeing him again one day in Heaven
