My father Mike Garrod died peacefully in hospital in France (where he had lived for over 20 years) on 29 December 2023. He had spent a month in hospital at the end of 2022 and since then had fought various illnesses and infections. A bout of bronchitis in December was one thing too much for his failing heart and although a pacemaker was fitted he passed away after 10 days in hospital.
French law dictates that a funeral must be held within a week so the only very close family from England were able to join his French friends at his cremation.
We chose British Heart Foundation as the appropriate beneficiary of the collection taken at the service and I have set up this tribute page so others can also donate if they wish.
